Life History of General Douglas MacArthur
1880 – Douglas MacArthur born January 26, 1880.
1903 – MacArthur graduates from West Point Military Academy.
1935 – Douglas MacArthur assigned military advisor to the Philippines.
1937 – MacArthur retires from Army.
1941 – Douglas MacArthur recalled to active duty.
1942 – Douglas MacArthur leaves Bataan; assumes command as Supreme Allied Commander of Southwest Pacific Area.
1944 – MacArthur returns to Philippines.
1945 – Douglas MacArthur accepts Japanese surrender.
1950 – MacArthur assumes command of United Nations forces during Korean War.
1951 – MacArthur relieved of command by President Truman; retires from military.
1964 – Douglas MacArthur dies April 5, 1964.
