William Henry Harrison was born February 9, 1773 in Charles City County, Virginia. Harrison attended Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia.
In 1791 William Henry Harrison decided on a career in the military, where he learned frontier soldiering. He became an aide to “Mad Anthony” Wayne and served with distinction in Wayne’s campaign against the Indians.
In 1795 William Henry Harrison married Anna Symmes. They- had ten children.
William Henry Harrison was appointed as secretary of the Northwest Territory in 1798 by John Adams and was its delegate to Congress. Later Harrison became governor of the Indiana Territory. In 1811 Harrison defeated the Indians at Tippecanoe River.
Harrison held several elected offices before winning the election for president in 1840. William Henry Harrison assumed the office of the president on March 4, 1841 and died on April 4, 1841 of pneumonia.
