Biography: Life of Warren G. Harding
Born 1865, Died 1923 Served as President of the United States 1921-1923.
Warren G. Harding was born on November 2, 1865 in Corsica (Blooming Grove), Ohio. He graduated from Ohio Central College and became a newspaper editor, publisher and owner.
In 1891 Warren G. Harding married Florence Kling DeWolfe. Mrs. Harding assisted him in his newspaper business, allowing him time for politics.
Harding served as an Ohio state senator and as its lieutenant governor. William G. Harding was elected United States senator in 1914.
The country, looking for a change from the regulations and restrictions of the war years, elected conservative Warren G. Harding as president in 1920, assuming office in 1921. During Harding’s administration a bill restricting immigration by setting up quotas was passed, a conference of the principle world naval powers met and agreed to limit warship construction and the national debt and tax rates were reduced.
William G. Harding suffered several illnesses in 1923 and died on August 2, 1923 from a stroke.
