Life of George Washington: Time Line


1732 – George Washington born on February 22, 1732 at Bridges Creek plantation, Virginia.

1748 – First job as a surveyor.

1753 – First service as a military leader.

1759 – George Washington marries Martha Dandridge Custis.

1769 – Presents plan to Virginia House of Burgesses for boycott of British made goods.

1775 – General Washington assumes command of Continental Army.

1783 – George Washington returns to Mount Vernon.

1789 – George Washington assumes office as first president.

1792 – Second term as president.

1794 – President Washington puts down Whiskey Rebellion.

1797 –George Washington retires to Mount Vernon.

1799 – Dies at Mount Vernon, December 14, 1799.
