1929 – Martin Luther King, Jr. born January 15, 1929.

1955 – Martin Luther King, Jr. receives Ph.D. in theology.

1954 – Accepts pastorate in Montgomery, Alabama.

1956 – United States Supreme Court declares segregation on buses unconstitutional.

1957 – Martin Luther King, Jr. elected president of Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

1960 – Becomes co-pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

1963 – Martin Luther King, Jr. arrested in Birmingham, Alabama.

1963 – Martin Luther King, Jr. delivers “I Have a Dream” speech.

1964 – Martin Luther King, Jr. receives Nobel Peace Prize.

1968 – Martin Luther King, Jr. assassinated April 4, 1968.
